The HYPOTHESIS XXI conference (Hydrogen Power Theoretical and Engineering Solutions International Symposium) is a long-standing international scientific symposium focused on hydrogen technologies and their role in modern energy systems.

The conference addresses both fundamental research and practical engineering aspects related to hydrogen production, storage, transport, and end-use applications. It provides a forum for the exchange of knowledge between academia, research institutions, and industry. The organisers expect over two hundred experts from around the world to attend.

HYPOTHESIS in Warsaw

For the first time, the HYPOTHESIS conference will be held in Warsaw. The event will continue the tradition of previous editions, offering a platform for scientific presentations, technical discussions and networking among experts in the field of hydrogen energy.

The organisers

The XXI edition of HYPOTHESIS is organised by the National Centre for Nuclear Research and the Energy Institute – National Research Institute in cooperation with the Warsaw University of Technology

National Centre for Nuclear Research

National Centre for Nuclear Research is the largest scientific institutes in Central Europe. Our Centre is a unique research unit in the country. We have a very rich history and, above all, a huge scientific output, mainly in fields such as physics, nuclear and plasma technologies. We conduct basic and applied research related to nuclear energy and various areas of subatomic physics. Our work is interdisciplinary and covers the following scientific fields: physics, materials engineering, automation, electronics and space technologies, environmental engineering, mining and energy, pharmaceutical sciences.

Institute of Power Engineering – National Research Institute

Institute of Power Engineering – National Research Institute (IPE-NRI) is a state-owned R&D Centre established in 1953.

Center for Hydrogen Technologies (CTH2) which integrates research on hydrogen technologies at IPE-NRI was established in 2020 to deliver stacks and systems with solid oxide fuel cells and solid oxide electrolyzers, accelerate the development of hydrogen technologies, support R&D activities and deployment of fuel cells and electrolyzers, provide outreach to the market and consulting services for industries. The CTH2 coordinates activities in the field of hydrogen technologies at the Department of High Temperature Electrochemical Processes (HiTEP), Department of Thermal Processes, Ceramic Department (CEREL), Gdansk Branch of IPE-NRI, and individual experts. Center engages total of 60 researchers from all disciplines of engineering, including process engineering, material science, chemistry, physics, power engineering, automation and control, electrical engineering, and solid state chemistry. It leads the hydrogen development in Poland, while the staff members were directly involved in preparation of the national hydrogen strategy. CTH2 IPE-NRI actively supports ministerial bodies as technical and scientific advisor, as well is active in standardization bodies at the national and EU levels.
