The heat accumulator here is 47 meters high and has a capacity of 30,400 m³. The unit takes advantage of the fact that cold water does not mix with hot water provided that it is added carefully and slowly. Cold water (40 °C) is at the bottom, and hot water (95 °C) is kept at the top. If the CHP needs hot water, it sucks it in through pipes located at the top of the tank, while adding the same amount of cold water from the bottom.
